Member Spotlight: Andrea

Do you know why the BWI of STL Gateway was started? You. Our members. BWI of STL is run by and for caregivers in the St. Louis area. As another way of saying “thank you for participating and contributing” as well as “we’d love to get to know all of you better”, we’re starting a Member Spotlight feature here on the blog. Once a month we’ll draw a random name from our member list and give that person the opportunity for a FREE babywearing mini-session with a local photographer, and a few of those photos and a quick interview with the member will be featured here. Because without our members, well, there’s no BWI!

I asked one of our volunteers to participate in a babywearing mini-session and fill out our member interview, just to give you an idea of what you’ll be seeing with this feature.

Andrea learned about BWI of STL when she was new to the area, looking to plug into a babywearing group, and a friend invited her to a meet up. Let’s get to know Andrea a bit!

What is your favorite carrier you’ve borrowed from our lending library?
I really enjoyed the MO+M ssc. [Editor’s note: this will be available for checkout very soon!]

What is your favorite thing about wearing your baby/child?
Snuggles, cuddles and multitasking.

What’s one thing you love to do that is made easier by babywearing?
Hiking and going on walks.
If you could have any wrap or carrier, it would be…
A Wenweave handwoven or Artipoppe Argus Chipolata; it’s EC, silk, seaweed, cashmere and viscous. Yummy!

Favorite place to hang with kids outdoors:
We like to try different parks and playgrounds. For hikes we love Castlewood and Shaw Nature Reserve. We also love going to the zoo!

Favorite place to hang with kids indoors:
We love our playgroup at Parenting Resources.

Let’s just pretend babywearing actually *is* magic, and you suddenly have unlimited time and resources to pursue a new (or old) hobby (without neglecting a single kid!). What would it be?
I would dive head first into learning to weave! [Editor’s note: I highly encourage this endeavor. A super local weaver? Yes, please!]

Thank you, Andrea, for letting our members see what this feature will offer. We can’t wait to get this rolling and meet more members here very soon!
